AFFECTED: The Manor is the first in a series of horror VR experiences. In this one, you explore a creepy old house full of sinister dolls, haunted portraits and more. This immersive experience is packed with jump scares and eerie imagery.

A virtual haunted house ride

Like many other horror experience titles, AFFECTED: The Manor isn't really a game in the conventional sense. It features very little genuine interactivity; you simply move around the environment, encountering the various horrific things to be found in the manor. Despite this lack of real choice, it makes very effective use of lighting and sound to create a tense and frightening atmosphere. It isn't a complete railroad, either; there are two different routes through the building, leading to a total of four different endings. The control scheme is very simple, but the effective use of gaze controls makes this an experience in which you're both tempted to look at parts of the environment and frightened of doing so.

Fun for fright fans

If you enjoy the tension of a haunted house or the adrenaline rush of a jump scare, check out AFFECTED: The Manor. It lacks deep gameplay, but the creepy environment is well realized.
