Tower defense action shooter game
VALDIS is a premium action game for PC developed by Whale Rock Games. It is a third-person shooter that features sci-fi themes and incorporates tower defense mechanics for its gameplay. In it, players will be tasked with defending a research laboratory from hordes of mutants throughout a large open infrastructure.
Compared to other tower defense games, such as Outpost: Infinity Siege or Defense Grid: The Awakening, VALDIS offers various tower types that can be augmented in various ways with elemental properties for unique effects. This allows players to experiment with synergies and combinations to deal with different situations.
Mutant defense
In VALDIS, an unknown virus has broken out at a space research station, turning its crew into mindless mutant zombies. You are the sole survivor of the ordeal, and it’s up to you to prevent the horde from taking over. To do so, you will need to defend and protect the energy cores that power the facility, and you have access to defense turrets to aid in your last stand.
Choose from a diverse selection of turrets, including blasters, lasers, and mortars, and deploy them at strategic points throughout the map to fend off the mutants. At the same time, you can participate in the defense using a powerful shotgun to help thin out their numbers. The twist comes in the form of elemental augmentations, wherein you can choose to imbue attacks with either fire, ice, lightning, or water damage.
What’s more, these elements can interact with one another to create unique effects, such as combining fire and lightning to turn monsters into bombs, doing splash damage to others when they explode. Now, as intriguing as all of this is, the game doesn’t have a release date yet, so you will have to wait for more news and announcements.
Curious and interesting
To conclude, VALDIS is shaping up to be an interesting tower defense shooter hybrid experience with its sci-fi themes and how you can augment your turrets with elemental attacks. It’s too soon to tell how all of this will pan out, but this game is worth keeping in your radar and checking out when it arrives.
