Taur is a sci-fi action game that revolutionizes the usual tower defense scheme by adapting ideas from known strategy games such as Total Annihilation and XCOM as well as other shooter games and creating unique gameplay. Developed solely by a one-person studio named Echo Entertainment, this indie game allows you to be the commander of the powerful Prime Cannon that is heavily-geared with robust weapons and abilities that you have to unlock as the game proceeds. Battle the Imperion Warmachine and defend the world of the Tauron droids against a cruel invasion. 

Prevent Taurea from falling into Imperion hands

The protection of the planet Taurea, home of the Tauron droids, lies heavily in your hands.  It also lies in you to triumph against the invasion of Imperion Warmachine. You must secure warzones by expanding the Taur defense with the use of the resources you collected. You can use them to construct turrets, droids, aircraft, and other structures. With those items, you can also reforge the quality of your weapons to inflict more damage. You can even research new tech that can help you in battles.

At the end of this campaign, you must beat the powerful Imperion Overlord in a battle that will decide whether you got the victory and prevented the invasion. Bear in mind that each day you can only deploy the Taur in one war zone, which left you with no choice but to leave the other zones. You must choose carefully which one you’ll select for that particular day as the abandoned war zones will incur a loss of control and resources. 

Imperion, a warmongering galactic droid empire, enormously grow in numbers as your level progress in the game. Thus, you must prepare your defense skills for various types of attacks you will receive. The type of defense you can adapt are full-scale invasions, air raids, tank sieges, and infantry skyfall attacks. You must also unlock and upgrade your array of weapons and abilities from time-to-time in order for you to easily turn the tide of the battlefield.

Action-filled gameplay but with lazy execution 

Taur offers action-filled gameplay with a unique core. However, the game execution contains a few drawbacks. For instance, its lack of enemy variety is evident, most especially in the first hour of gameplay. The number of enemies only gets bigger, but, in the long run, can become absurd. The weapons the game provides are also very slow to load. On top of that, its upgrade system is shallow and doesn’t offer actual options. 

Furthermore, there are chances that you may not get resources for doing missions as it is randomized. You may also lose a couple of your buildings in just a single mission, and you will have a hard time purchasing a new one because it’s highly expensive.

Fun and engaging tower defense game

Taur is a must-try tower defense strategy game as it offers you several unique twists to the formula. It also allows you to experience spectacular battles wherein you'll be equipped with a good amount of weapons towers, abilities, and upgrades to deploy. Even though its overall game execution still lacks and needs improvement in some areas, this is still a game worth trying.
