Developed by Pahdo Labs, Starlight Re:Volver functions similarly to games like Gunfire Reborn, Grim Dawn, and TowerBorne, giving players an action-packed gameplay experience. It blends electro-city pop with hyper-stylized combat, creating a vibrant, iridescent aesthetic that evokes nostalgia for retro and anime-inspired games.

Play with explosive combats  

Starlight Re:Volver takes place in a world where a select few, known as Divers, can wield mysterious devices called Re:Volvers. These devices grant access to So Mi, an endless digital dreamscape. Here, players must step into the role of a Diver who has recently gained these powers, joining others with similar abilities to explore both So Mi and the high-tech Nishi Island Metropolis in search of treasure, fame, and celebration.

The game’s combat system allows players to break enemy defenses through magical combos, and Divers can also shape the environment by shattering Twilight Crystals. Players can further personalize their Divers by altering their appearance, equipping gear, and unlocking new abilities. In addition to combat, you can participate in activities like stargazing, fishing, crafting, and more in the hub city of Nishi Island Metropolis.

Additionally, you can play with your friends in this game as it features a four-player online co-op. The game blends Japanese RPG combat with elements from Western roguelikes, all within a charming social world influenced by classic online worlds. However, while the visual design of the world is impressive, the exploration mechanics feel somewhat limited, which may disappoint players seeking a fully open-world experience.

The characters and the pre-alpha build

As discussed earlier, these are the game’s main characters: Effy Corbeau, a reckless treasure hunter, and Renegade Diver, who dreams of honoring her grandfather. Kira, an elite Noble Diver from the Tsukino clan, hides her desire for connection while searching for her missing sister. Ren, a Guardian Diver and former dockhand, vows to protect Effy. Vivi, a Scholar Diver, and Altair heir stole a Re:Volver to unravel So Mi's mysteries.

The pre-alpha build includes the following: Nishi Island Metropolis, a vibrant hub for Divers, fishing at Farsky Docks, and other scenic viewpoints. Play as Effy or Kira, each with refreshed abilities and unique styles. Face a boss with strategic ability and charm combinations. Meet Clover, voiced by LilyPichu, at the Lucky Clover Cafe. Earn free Diver outfits: a bear-themed Effy skin and a springtime Kira skin, while listening to its soundtrack.
