In the free-to-play casual game Sneak Out, you and other players get to relive your childhood for a bit as you engage in thrilling games of virtual hide-and-seek. With a unique twist on the format, the multiplayer strategy game offers a fun-filled experience for up to six players, set in the spooky and unpredictable setting of the Haunted Castle.

Similar to games like Prop Hunt, Sneak Out also involves tracking down other players as they try to hide. Aside from being able to turn into inanimate objects to blend in with the environment, they also have to complete tasks—quite similar to Among Us.

More than just a game of hide-and-seek

There are three main roles in Sneak Out: Hunter, Hider, and Ghost. When you’re chosen as the Hunter, the game transforms into an exhilarating chase. You’ll embody one of several terrifying characters, such as the scythe-wielding Reaper, the blood-thirsty Vampire, and the pumpkin-headed Scarecrow. Your goal is to find all Hiders before they can finish their tasks and portal away, using traps or special abilities to sniff them out of their hiding spots.

Meanwhile, Hiders are plenty in number and they share the same goal—complete the level objectives and activate the escape portal. The tasks, scattered throughout the Haunted Castle, range from simple to challenging, and ticking off each one brings you closer to freedom. To fend off the Hunters tracking you down, you can utilize traps, pull hilarious pranks, or turn into mundane items to throw them off. If you get caught, you turn into a Ghost.

Ghosts can assist their fellow Hiders by causing chaos. They can possess objects, slow down the Hunter with slippery ectoplasm, or throw furniture to create distractions. Besides that, you can also personalize your avatar through a variety of outfits, trinkets, and accessories. However, most options are locked behind a paywall and there’s virtually no free-to-play way to get them. Connectivity issues are rampant as well.

Enter the Haunted Castle

In a nutshell, Sneak Out offers a playful and engaging multiplayer experience that combines the excitement of hide-and-seek with inventive gameplay elements, all set against the backdrop of the eerie Haunted Castle. However, while it excels in creating a fun and immersive environment, some aspects such as limited free character customization options and connectivity issues could be improved to enhance the gaming experience.
