HoloParade is a strategy game that is based on the personas under Hololive Production. Fans of the agency’s VTuber roster will be able to collect some of their favorite streamers and use them to take over enemy bases in a tower-defense-style mechanism.

While HoloParade does make use of a gacha model, it’s much more generous compared to games like Genshin Impact and Granblue Fantasy. Unlike the aforementioned titles, this fanmade game allows players to obtain characters by making use of tickets, which you can obtain by simply performing tasks within the game without having to purchase anything else.

With over 65 collectible characters providing a rich variety of abilities, such as healing and self-destruct attacks, the strategic combinations for your formation are virtually limitless. The game also boasts a comprehensive development system, allowing for a unique character progression experience. Beyond standard leveling and limit-breaking, a skill system enables players to attach unique abilities to characters, leading to a more tailored development process. 

In a refreshing change from more fiscal models, HoloParade does not employ a typical gacha purchase or stamina system. All characters can be acquired using in-game tickets, and there are no time constraints on gameplay. The scout gacha system also allows players to choose from two randomly selected character options, thus providing a measure of strategy and preference over random chance.

However, it's not all about the battles. Back at the office, players are treated to voice interactions from Hololive's Harusaki Nodoka and can enjoy spontaneous appearances from other Hololive talents. There are even mini-games with genres differing from the main story, providing opportunities to gather coins for character strengthening. While these diversions are enjoyable, they can become repetitive and monotonous over time. There are also several spelling and grammar mistakes to come across, as well.

Overall, HoloParade proves to be an engaging, strategic game that offers an enjoyable experience for tower defense enthusiasts and newbies alike. While there is room for improvement, its innovative features and the freedom it gives players make it worth checking out. Hoyolive fans will especially enjoy the ability to interact with and play as some of their favorite VTubers while providing them with their own unique abilities.
