Papo & Yo is a unique adventure puzzle game with a platforming focus that was developed by indie studio Minority Media. The game follows the story of a boy named Quico, who lives in the Brazilian suburbs with his father, who is addicted to alcohol.

The game's plot was inspired by the lead game designer's experience with his alcoholic father. The ability to open tears to another dimension is used to represent escapism. The game features platforming sections, and the ability to turn the real world into a magical one is introduced. The protagonist can use tools brought out from the magical world to aid in their quest. The Monster is also a crucial part of the gameplay, as it helps Quico hop around gaps. However, the behemoth can turn berserk if it eats too many frogs, crushing everything in its way, but it can be calmed down with fruits.
