Heroes of Hammerwatch II is a premium role-playing PC game developed by Crackshell. It's the sequel to the original Heroes of Hammerwatch action RPG adventure. Players will embark on a new journey to take on the perils of a dark and mysterious tower with hidden treasures to be discovered.

Compared to the original Heroes of Hammerwatch, the new Heroes of Hammerwatch II brings back the persistent progression system that fans loved from the first game and builds upon it even further. A demo version is available to try to get a sense of what the gameplay will be like.

A new adventure

Heroes of Hammerwatch II is the anticipated follow-up to the popular action RPG dungeon crawler adventure, Heroes of Hammerwatch. In it, you will go on a brand new adventure to the Dark Citadel, a mysterious fortress that is home to all kinds of demonic creatures and monstrosities. Take on the challenge solo or with up to three other players in multiplayer co-op gameplay.

The are seven character classes to choose from in Heroes of Hammerwatch II, each boasting three specializations with unique skill trees to customize your play style. Explore eight randomly generated floors, and successfully bring your loot back to town for upgrades to your NPCs and store items. New to this sequel is the Dynamic Gear System which lets you enhance weapons and gear with runes.

Find blueprints during your runs that unlock enchantments for your equipment and special potions that alter the gameplay experience. Having said all that, this sequel feels more like an update than a new standalone game. Much of the items and enemies featured in the first game have been reused here, with very few new additions, leading to a somewhat lackluster experience for those expecting more.

Lackluster and reiterative

All in all, if you played the original and are looking forward to his new sequel, Heroes of Hammerwatch II offers a fun but reiterative experience that does not bring anything substantially new to the table. If you like the gameplay and want more, you'll get plenty of it here. However, if you're expecting something fresh and different, it falls short.
