Premium remake of a beloved hit

Spider-Man Remastered is a premium action-adventure RPG game from Insomniac Games and Marvel. In this superhero game, you get to play as the friendly neighbor and web-slinger. You get to face Spidey’s wide range of villains, now in improved visual and gameplay quality. For those unfamiliar, this game is a remastering of the 2018 Spider-Man, plus its downloadable content, The City That Never Sleeps.

Aside from all the original content, the Spider-Man Remastered also includes a host of new content on top of the improved visuals. Similarly, you might want to check out Marvel: Avengers Alliance 2 if you like Western role-playing games.

Swing around New York

Like its 2018 incarnation, Spider-Man Remastered follows the same main story of Mister Negative’s nefarious plan to bring New York City to its heels. It retains the same storytelling genius that takes the best ideas from the comic books, letting players experience the thrill of being Spider-Man and the challenges of being young Peter Parker. Also, it includes elements from the original DLC, The City That Never Sleeps.

Giving players a great incentive to revisit the game, you can transfer the saved files from PlayStation 4. This time, however, you enjoy updated textures, 3D audio capabilities, and near-instant loading—further enhancing your gameplay experience and engagement with the story by providing a more realistic approach, while still retaining some of its comical and lighthearted nature that a superhero title usually delivers.

The game might not be appealing to grinding players who have already achieved 100% from their experience of the original game. The remastered version doesn’t offer a lot in terms of story and missions, although it does have neat new Spider-Man costumes and additional achievements to unlock. Like the original game, it retains the same restrictions in terms of gameplay, including the side quests that are still repetitive and too easy.

Immersive high-quality surroundings

Spider-Man Remastered features improved graphics with top-notch optimization that further immerses players while dangling around New York. These settings include unlocked framerates and NVIDIA DLSS—as well as image-enhancing technology—such as NVIDIA DLAA and AMD FSR 2.0, letting players wander around the big city and enjoy the beautiful sights it has to offer, a huge step-up from the original version.

The vastly improved image of the game is not the only neat aspect it has to offer, but players also get to enjoy the ultra-wide monitor support, which considerably upscales the resolution. This feature alone widens the player’s field of vision (FOV)and enables them to see their surroundings more clearly, providing gameplay advantage during combat, as well as a more atmospheric experience.

However, with all the major overhauls to the game’s engine, it also means that the system requirements are more demanding compared to its original version. A subpar setup will effectively cause lag and the occasional stutter while playing, and loading times will definitely take longer than usual. If you want to enjoy the breathtaking environments that the modern engine has to offer, having more powerful hardware is a must.

Experience a modern classic, remastered

Overall, Spider-Man Remastered is as great as its original version, only pushing the limits of modern technology. With it, you can experience more realistic graphics and animation, more immersive sounds, and the benefit of exporting your PS4 save file if you have one. Expect Easter eggs and new content for you to unlock. Aside from its minor bump with the side quests, this is an upgrade from the original.
