Grande Armée - L’Aigle Standalone Mod is a free-to-use game utility developed by LifeHussar. It is a standalone sub-mod for the Napoleonic total conversion mod L’Aigle of Mount & Blade: Warband. The Grande Armée mod doesn’t require L’Aigle to play. However, it needs the main game itself to be installed.

Grande Armée - L'Aigle Standalone Mod is centered around rebalancing the troop trees of the current factions that have been reworked, with new stats balancing them out. Some trees have been expanded while others were contracted, which also cascaded into a host of other changes.

A fascinating total war game

Mount & Blade is a medieval strategy action role-playing game developed by TaleWorlds Entertainment. The game features a sandbox gameplay style, and though the player can complete quests, there is no overarching storyline. M&B received a mixed critical reception. The game was praised for its innovative combat mechanics and complex character skill system. However, it is criticized for its low graphics quality and repetitive dialogue and locations.

Meanwhile, Mount & Blade: Warband is the expansion pack to the game. It adds a sixth faction to the original game, allowing players to start and incorporate multiplayer modes. The game was popular enough to garner mods—one of which is L'Aigle, a single-player total-conversion mod for M&B: Warband game based on the Fifth Coalition of 1809, in which Napoleonic France and its allies fought against Austria.

Some features of the L'Aigle mod included hundreds of new troops, a graphical overhaul, new effects, and battle formations. Meanwhile, the Grande Armée - L’Aigle Standalone Mod adjusts some features, including troop levels, with bandits for upkeep and simulated troop battles, and new art and music to the loading and title screen. However, there are still issues unaddressed, like a bug that sometimes makes everyone's character turn white.

Exciting new features offered

Grande Armée - L’Aigle is a very competent mod. If you enjoyed the original L’Aigle, then you’re going to have plenty of enjoyment with this standalone version as well. It is well-balanced, with a ton of polish and a boatload of features. It doesn't mean it's a perfect game. This game will take time to iron out the bugs for better gameplay.
