Parkour platformer game set in the desert
Desert Parkour is a premium action game developed by Prince Game Studio for PC. It is a first-person platformer that incorporates parkour mechanics in its gameplay. In it, players will need to accomplish various obstacle courses created in a remote desert.
Similar to Mirror's Edge Catalyst, Desert Parkour is a game that is all about speed and precision. Players will need to consider their movements and timing to be able to overcome various platforming challenges, spread across multiple levels, as quickly as possible. They will even use a grappling hook to finish some vertical challenges.
Desert run
As its title suggests, Desert Parkour takes place in a scorching hot desert. The landscape is populated with various rock formations and structures which will house the various obstacle courses that you will be facing. One prevailing theme that you will notice as you go along is that the majority of the challenges are situated on top of precarious cliffs and floating platforms that somehow move on their own.
You'll play in first-person perspective for more immersion. Gameplay will primarily revolve around running, jumping, and utilizing a grappling hook to reach platforms located high up. As of this writing, the game has 30 levels available to test your skills on, each with its own unique layout. There are also additional challenges that have you performing specific actions or completing a course within a certain time.
Speaking of challenges, there are achievements that you can complete. There are a few things that could be improved upon for a better gameplay experience, though. The momentum of your jumps is highly dependent on the angle of your camera, which often feels inconsistent and janky. The same can be said for using the grappling hook, which results in missed shots and inaccurate aiming.
Turn up the heat
All in all, Desert Parkour is an interesting platformer with fun parkour gameplay elements and a distinct setting. It's easy to learn, has plenty of levels to go through, and provides a good bit of challenge. The optional achievements also add to its replayability, which is nice. Hopefully, the issues mentioned above get addressed soon. Still, this is worth giving a try.
