City Defense Z is an indie strategy, survival, and roguelite hybrid that challenges players to balance risk and strategy. Developed by Good Mood Games, this strategy game challenges players to build, expand, and defend a city against waves of zombies. During daylight you build and merge structures using resources, but when night falls those defenses are tested in full. 

Build by day, survive by night 

In City Defense Z, you place buildings like farms, factories, barracks, and more during the day. Buildings can be merged to upgrade, improving resource generation, defense, or other helpful effects. At night, zombies attack in increasingly difficult hordes, and your city’s layout, merged defenses, and resource investments from the day determine whether your base stands or falls.  

The game’s interface, visual style, and general polish are serviceable, especially for an indie of this scope. The card-based building placement and merging mechanics give a fresh twist to base-defense strategy, and the balance between building during the day and fighting during the night usually works well. However, performance hiccups exist and it lacks more content.
