War Robots is a free-to-play PC action game developed by MY.GAMES. It is a third-person PvP-focused mecha battler that supports up to 12 players. In it, they will engage in team-based duels piloting a wide variety of advanced robots equipped with powerful artillery, in a bid for total power and supremacy on the battlefield.

Comparable to games like Mecha BREAK or Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2, War Robots boasts a robust customization system that allows players to combine different parts and weapons to create unique builds. It also gives them the freedom to play and strategize for every battle however they want without constraints.

Create a walking robot and smash other players

War Robots lets you pick from a roster of over 50 unique robots with unique attributes and abilities. You can then customize it with different weapons and modules that result in various unique combinations and builds. Engage in large PvP battles that support up to six players per team, wherein there are no strict tactical rules, so sneaking up on other players by moving in a way that makes them hard to hit is a valid and effective way to play.

If you prefer to play solo, you can try the Arena or Free-for-all modes to test your skills on an individual level against other players around the world. The same level of freedom and tactics also apply here, so you can get creative and use any means necessary to accomplish your specific goals and objectives on the battlefield. All that said, the game balance has started to shift in favor of those willing to spend money and pay to progress faster and gain an edge on others.

Pay to win

War Robots was a loved and well-respected game until it was updated to a pay-to-win game. Now, people who pay the most are the ones who win. This wouldn’t normally be a problem because many players bought premium accounts so that they may play for longer and add to their arsenal, but now there are extra weapons that must be bought for extra money, and extra updates that players do not receive if they do not buy with extra money.

The developers tried to avert the negative backlash by making the purchasable upgrades something that players could achieve, but players are asked to complete tasks that take up to 100 hours in the space of two weeks. The game is only fun if you play with other people who have not purchased the extra upgrades.
