The Vilja in Skyrim mod is a free follower and companion mod for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition that adds a new follower while paying homage to an NPC in Oblivion. This mod was created by Emma, Amgepo, and Lycanthrops and is available for download on Nexus Mods.

Vilja in Skyrim has no other mod dependencies other than the Skyrim base game. You will need the latest version of Skyrim Special Edition to run it. Lucien - Immersive Fully Voice Male Follower, Inigo, Amazing Follower Tweaks, Ultimate Combat SE, and Hoth are other mods that add new followers, functions, and companions that you may want to consider. 

A unique new follower

Vilja means ‘willpower’ and ‘determination’ in Swedish, and Vilja in Skyrim embodies those virtues. She and her quest can be found in the Bannered Mare in Whiterun. The authors created a rich storyline complete with lore to create this immersive follower. Vilja’s grandmother, also named Vilja, was a follower in Oblivion, and they both are from Solstheim. Vilja is left a mysterious bottle from her grandmother and sets out for Skyrim to learn about its contents. 

Adds additional voices 

Vilja adds nearly 9,000 lines of additional voiced dialog, keeping you entertained for hours with unique new content. All character, story, and dialog voices are done by Emma, with additional voice acting done by several others such as SirCharleytheKhajit and Anna Fernlund. In version 4.0, 500+ original, low-quality voice files were recorded and manually cleaned with a high-quality microphone.

New original music 

Vilja also adds new, original medieval music to Skyrim Special Edition. There’s new flute music by Bosa123 and original lute compositions by Adrien Orton for Vilja’s character. Many of the bard performances are recorded by the german music Ensemble Musiklustgarden. 

In all, there are 28 custom music pieces added to the game. Vilja wants to become a bard and will always play music for the player. She starts only knowing drums but eventually learns flute and lute.

Adds follower variety 

Vilja in Skyrim does more than just add a new NPC follower; it enriches the game’s atmosphere while staying true to the original game style. The authors paid careful attention to creating music and dialog that feels natural in the world of Skyrim. This mod is currently on version 4.3 with nearly 200,000 downloads.
