Total Annihilation is a classic real time strategy game set in a futuristic galaxy. Players build a base, construct units and battle for supremacy across a variety of maps.

Battle across the galaxy

Released amongst other classic RTS games like Red Alert and Command and Conquer in the mid 90's, Total Annihilation is something of a forgotten gem. The space setting and unit system make for a uniquely engaging game which has a number of advantages over similar titles. Resource generation and unit production have an uncommon amount of automation, the story has a surprising depth and the included expansions bring even more. A strong modding scene with over 20 years worth of content is also waiting for players to explore, expanding the potential for Total Annihilation to near limitless levels. While this is certainly an old game, the graphics have a certain style which old school gamers will appreciate. This edition comes complete with all the extras for the base game but lacks a HD remake.

Flawed classic

For a game of its age, Total Annihilation holds up surprisingly well. The music is one of the best examples from the time and the strategy elements are still fresh. Some modern gamers may well find it too ancient to explore, but beneath the rough system is a solid core. A great cult classic.
