The narrative of The Fool's Apprentice follows the Arcanist Tharn, who comes from a family of great sorcerers in the wizarding world and is responsible for overseeing a magical school. Play as an accomplished magic wielder and guide the unskilled students into becoming the great spellcasters that this magical world needs. However, ensure that they stay learning only what is in the academic program. 

Some hexes you can cast on students for their magical growth include tossing them around, levitating their bodies, taking over their minds, wiping their memories, and even sending them to other realms using portals. The Arcane Conservatory serves as your workstation, where you can conduct research that not only allows you to upgrade other magical stations but also defines the future of magic and science. 

Once your students master their craft, bring in fresh apprentices to take under your wing and start the teaching process anew. You can even recruit unsuspecting citizens for magical experimentation. Just be careful not to land yourself in jail for magical malpractice. However, major concerns about this gameplay include the tutorial features being more of an information dump than actually helpful, the absence of a save feature, and game-breaking bugs.

Still, for fans of magical mischief and strategy, it’s an enchanting ride worth taking.
