Sentimental K is a premium action title for PC developed by Fordays Co., Ltd. It is a 3D roguelike game that features the characteristic challenging gameplay that players have grown to like and look for in the genre while boasting dynamic and smooth-flowing combat.

Just like Hades, Sentimental K is an isometric roguelike that offers slick visuals and animations. Players will be diving into dungeons that feature randomly-generated levels, making each run feel unique and different each time. It also boasts of an arsenal of weapons and items that lets them customize and create builds as they want.

More than visuals

When you first see Sentimental K's graphics and art style, you would be forgiven for thinking it's just another anime-styled game aimed to offer fan service. Once you give it a try, though, you'll start to realize there is some depth to its gameplay and fun to be had in its combat, which is rather stylish and features a good amount of variety to it.

The game takes the concept of roguelikes to such a high degree that almost every aspect of its gameplay is randomized. As of this writing, there are five weapons, 78 skills, and 132 artifacts featured in the game, and they are all randomly picked for every run. The same rules apply to the randomly-generated dungeons you'll be battling in and the 13 bosses you will need to defeat.

One thing the game does differently from its contemporaries in the genre is how it handles defeat. Unlike others that lets you start over stronger, it utilizes a permadeath mechanic, which really pounds on the already steep difficulty curve you'll be experiencing when you first give it a go. Also, the complete randomness of everything has you relying more on the luck of the draw than actual skill.

No room for sentimentality

Sentimental K stands out from other titles in the genre thanks in no small part to its slick visuals that will appeal to a lot of players. Get past this, and you have a rather competent roguelike that offers plenty of variety in its combat. Some might think it took the whole "random" thing a bit too far, but if you don't mind that, it's worth checking out.
