Scars Above is a single-player, third-person shooting platform that follows the adventures of a character named Kate Ward. After being stranded on a foreign planet, she is forced to endure an unfamiliar environment and fend off formidable alien foes.

Offering similar shoot 'em up experiences to other games, such as Predator: Hunting Grounds, this platform also places significant emphasis on a science fiction narrative. This storyline is then combined with intense scenes of action and combat.

Gameplay and story are inextricably linked

Scars Above is a sci-fi adventure game in which you play as Kate Ward, one of SCAR's members—a group of scientists and astronomers who were sent to study an alien planet object discovered in Earth's orbit known as the Metahedron. However, as the team moves closer to the object, they are drawn inside, and she awakens to find that the rest of her crew has disappeared. From there, you will learn how to work with your environment, featuring a light puzzle-solving system in which you select objects in the first-person view, and you, as the main character Kate, will have thoughts about these things. You can also spin the objects to discover new ways of interacting with them.

In the third person, players control Kate as she explores that object, hoping to find answers and its secrets. In this adventure game, using her intelligence, Kate can scan substances she finds during exploration and use them to learn more about the enemies in the area. In addition, the game offers many customizable weapons, each with an elemental attribute. In fights, these methods proved helpful, which rely on the ability to target weak points. Because of her agility, Kate is able to dodge and move freely in the field.

A variety of environments to explore

Players will journey through a host of levels. These include, but are not limited to, marshlands, underground caves, and even facilities that aliens control. Likewise, these are associated with threats and challenges that must be overcome.

Numerous weapon combos

There are a host of different objects which the player can employ. A handful of examples include explosives, melee attack combinations, and ranged weapons. Note that some of these can be combined to increase their ultimate power.

Intense third-person action and adventure

Some seasoned players are likely to notice that the third-person perspective of Scars Above is similar to that displayed in many classics, such as Max Payne. However, the mechanics are much more advanced, and these should lead to an action-packed experience.
