Retro-inspired action/adventure RPG
Action-adventure side-scrolling RPG
Savior is a 2D side-scrolling adventure RPG that offers a retro feel similar to games associated with systems such as Nintendo and SEGA. The action-packed nature of this platform should appeal to players of all genres. It features nostalgic 1990s graphics and provides players with many new levels to explore.
Many of the mechanics associated with Savior can be compared to classic bundles, such as Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection. The gameplay is rather straightforward, and the main character is easy to control when navigating through progressive levels.
Savior involves an ancient society that has been oppressed by a powerful warlord who demands absolute obedience. However, a small faction of citizens has chosen to rise above the masses and fight this evil dictator.
Players will need to acquire and utilize different skills when exploring unique environments. Some of these are automatic (such as gripping onto cliffs and swimming). Others are instead gained by defeating opponents. Melee weapons, firearms, and even lightning can be employed when needed. It is also possible to switch skills within the levels.
Players will occasionally need to interact with other NPC allies. It is possible to choose from a variety of responses when engaging in conversation. This once again harkens back to the "golden era" of action platformers and even DOS games.
Savior offers a level of gameplay and a visual atmosphere that can be likened to other console-based games of the 1990s, such as Jazz Jackrabbit 2. Features that serve to define Savior include colorful worlds to explore, unique enemies, numerous one-off quests, and the ability to obtain powerful skill sets.
