Retro-inspired action/adventure RPG
Earthblade is a two-dimensional side-scrolling exploration game that has been imbued with a decidedly retro flavor. Players will need to use their skills to negotiate various obstacles, collect resources, and defeat enemies as they progress. Players can expect detailed graphics and backgrounds, and it provides rather straightforward player mechanics.
Earthblade has been created by the same team of software developers associated with Celeste. This is clearly reflected in the detailed yet pixelated graphics that users will encounter throughout gameplay.
A forsaken world
The story of Earthblade revolves around a Child of Fate named Névoa. After returning to Earth, she finds that civilization has all but entirely collapsed. Therefore, she will have to explore a host of different locations and unravel clues if she ever hopes to discover what befell her home planet.
Relaxing and nostalgic graphics
Earthblade has been purposely designed to mirror many of the pixel-based games that were released in the 1980s and 1990s. However, smooth graphics and seamless gameplay will certainly appeal to younger users who enjoy exploration-driven narratives.
More than initially meets the eye
The 2D gameplay associated with Earthblade might appear simple at first glance, but a fair degree of skill will be required. Players must jump over large chasms, climb walls, use in-flight boost powers, and acquire new skills while battling enemies throughout each level. As with many side-scrolling platforms, the levels themselves will also become more challenging as the user progresses.
A synergy of side-scrolling action and immersive exploration
Offering nostalgic pixel-based graphics that are similar to other platforms, such as Noita, Earthblade boasts a retro appeal that has been punctuated with a more modern vibe. Lush colors, narrative-based progression, and side-scrolling excitement serve to define what users can expect.
