RetroRealms: Halloween is an action game. It plunges players into a 16-bit, pixel-art horror world as the infamous Michael Myers from the Halloween series. This DLC for RetroRealms Arcade gives players a chance to experience platforming action with Myers’ signature mix of brutality and creepiness.  

Throughout RetroRealms: Halloween, you’ll encounter iconic Halloween characters in a retro-inspired, side-scrolling adventure packed with familiar visuals and audio nods to the original Halloween films. As Myers, you navigate multiple levels brimming with hellish enemies, treacherous obstacles, and twisted versions of beloved characters from the horror world.

In RetroRealms: Halloween, there are plenty of hidden relics to uncover, upgrades to acquire, and challenges to overcome, all to save Haddonfield from a dark fate. The game’s emphasis on the horror aesthetic, combined with a retro-styled soundtrack and 16-bit visuals, adds to its unique charm. The gameplay is challenging, but rewarding, with various abilities and weapons available as you progress.  

The game ties all of this together, connecting with other games in the series to unlock even more options, including special abilities and achievements, making it a broader experience. High-score leaderboards encourage players to compete for top spots, keeping the competition fierce and motivating players to revisit the game. Playing as Myers, slicing through foes and discovering eerie surprises, captures a delightful, nostalgic horror experience. 

However, the DLC requires the base game RetroRealms Arcade. Additionally, it has limited appeal for non-horror fans, the difficulty spikes may frustrate some players, the visuals may feel too pixelated for some players, and the game can be repetitive over extended play sessions. There is no multiplayer mode, the game lacks a detailed story mode, and there is limited character customization and few modern graphics options for customization.
