Dominate the galaxy
Sins of a Solar Empire II is an action game in which you strategically fight for dominance over the galaxy in a riveting, story-rich playthrough. This is the follow-up to the Sins of a Solar Empire original game released in 2008, made by Ironclad Games Corporation and Stardock Entertainment.
Sins of a Solar Empire II adds a more obscure and nuanced gameplay than the original game, providing players the same 4X — explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate — gameplay as the previous title but with subtle tweaks to give a different gaming experience.
Play as a lead of a faction
As the Trader Emergency Coalition (TEC) enjoy an age of prosperity and peace after thousands of fighting wars in Sins of a Solar Empire II, the Vasari Empire comes and disturbs the harmony of the Traders, conquering hundreds of planets and their sentient species. In addition, their maverick brethren race, Advent, that was outcast thousands of years ago has come back to cause destruction in their undefended territories.
This game only has one mode, focusing on the real-time aspect of the gameplay. Here, you take the role of the emperor and the commander to head one of the playable factions to adapt and survive the war by utilizing individual kick-starter conditions, gameplay mechanics, units, abilities, and tech. It also boasts a new empire system for each race, including TEC Trade, Vasari Phase Resonance, and Advent Unity.
With its detailed combat simulation, Sins II adds a sense of depth to the overall gameplay, giving space for more tactical decisions that go with the 10-player multiplayer support for a gripping game with others online. Additionally, it integrates in-game mod support, letting players discover, install, and share mods. This game, however, uses AI to enhance the graphics using the artists’ work as the baseline which some players find unappealing.
A sequel with a story-rich playthrough
Sins of a Solar Empire II offers a compelling sequel with its story-rich gameplay, letting players enjoy the magic of the original game. This time, though, the game highlights new empire systems to give users a different experience while simultaneously maintaining the marvelous elements of the first game. One of the major setbacks, however, is the use of AI that aims to improve the graphics but fails to do so.
Pros
- Retains the original elements
- New empire system
