Pixel Manifesto is a retro adventure game where you play as a character in a deep-sea diver suit and explore the world of Manifesto Citadel where you meet residents in gears and gadgets and do favors for them. Developed by ninapsis, the game is created in an 8-bit pixel design.

The gameplay is similar to other 8-bit adventure games, like Celeste, The Messenger, and Hyper Light Drifter. However, it has a less obvious goal and story compared to other adventure games. You basically just go around, do favors, fight small monsters and big bosses until you finally finish the game.

Simple controls and gameplay

Pixel Manifesto introduces you to an outer space-like universe with quirky characters in futuristic space suits, and monsters ranging from weird-looking aliens to something as basic as birds and ghosts. However vague the story is, the game is pretty straightforward, as you essentially just have to explore the area and talk to non-playable characters to find out what they need. 

The controls are just as simple, with WASD for movement, E for engaging with NPCs and entering doors, mouse for aiming, left-click to use a normal gun, and right-click to use missiles. Exploration is also easy since you can double jump, latch on walls momentarily, and jump from one wall to another. However, the camera movement isn’t fluid, so it can hurt a player’s eyes if you play for hours.

It can be a challenge to play long hours without feeling a bit drowsy— albeit the game is short— because the game's music is too mellow and a little boring. If you want to stop and rest, the game has a save feature, although you can only continue playing on saving spots. Additionally, the game doesn’t require further installation, so you can immediately play it right after downloading. 

Fun but short

Overall, Pixel Manifesto is a fun, retro, and entertaining adventure game. It is easy to play, with straightforward controls and gameplay. However, the game is quick to finish and the unsteady camera movement can hurt your eyes. Still, the game gives you a lot of space to explore, interact with quirky characters, and play against challenging monsters and bosses.
