Indie 2D platformer sequel
Ori and the Will of the Wisps is a 2D platformer. A direct sequel to 2015's Ori and the Blind Forest, this game continues the story of the guardian spirit of a hauntingly beautiful forest.
After the original received rave reviews and fan acclaim for its atmosphere and gameplay, E3 2017 saw the announcement of a new chapter in the story of Ori. Ori and the Will of the Wisps is set directly after the events of the original, once again exploring the forest of Nibel. Gameplay revolves around tight, aerial-based platforming and a Metroid/Castlevania-style level progression system. New abilities are unlocked which both improve Ori's physical abilities and act as ways to access previously hidden areas, often including the light companion Sein. While Ori and the Will of the Wisps appears to follow in the footsteps of its predecessor for the most part, it remains to be seen what advances have been made. The overall tough-but-fair difficulty of the first game was a large part of the charm and hopefully remains.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps appears to be a welcome continuation of Ori's adventures.
