The Nova Aetas Mod advances the timeline in Mount & Blade Warband so that many medieval elements have evolved forwards, and several Latin themes have been added. Features have also been added to the civil, building, and management parts of the game.

The mod adds aesthetic changes with a Latin theme, like how the Game of Thrones Mod mod added GOT-themed aesthetics to Mount and Blade. Unlike the CRPG Mod mod, this Mount and Blade mod doesn't make any changes to the game’s battle mechanics. For example, musket men operate the same way as archers.

Changes in overall appearance

The most obvious differences are seen as you visit the villages, towns, and castles. The building exteriors have been redesigned, and the interiors have more Latin-inspired decorations and items. Things like excessive light bloom have been removed, and certain dark areas have been lightened.

Extending the gameplay

The indie developer has tried to extend the gameplay of this RTS strategy and fighting game by adding map elements and extending the building portion of the game. The “Manage Property” option has more choices with this mod. They make the game's economy function a little more as it does in the Total War games.

The redesigns have updated the graphics

People looking for a graphical update of Mount & Blade Warband may enjoy this mod because the redesigned graphics are much more modern than what the base game offers. Some interior designs are better laid out and organized than the original game.

A dash of extended play

The mod doesn't offer a DLC level of extended play, but the updated civil and management features mean that players can draw more activity and enjoyment out of the game. The later-period designs also give veteran players something new to look at.
