Death Kid is an action game developed by the indie developer Crooked Games for PC. In this arena-inspired title, players assume the role of the Death Kid, who must do whatever it takes to restore the cycle of life and death’s wheel and break the spell of endless life. 

With a blend of action roguelite, beat-‘em-up, and hack-and-slash mechanics, Death Kid delivers a fast-paced, combat-filled playthrough for fighting game enthusiasts. It is playable from a top-down perspective, features 2D and pixel graphics, and explores various themes, including mystery, fantasy, and time travel. 

Protect the souls 

Death Kid’s narrative follows the young and impressionable version of Death, who is cursed with immortality. Through his powerful skills, which he must master, and progressive growth, he must devise a sound strategy, annihilate various enemy factions, and shatter eight ancient seals to descend into the depths of a cursed well, guided by three spirits suspended between life and death. 

This fast-paced arena brawler highlights eight levels to descend, each containing unique monsters to fend off. Thanks to the game’s meta progression, he becomes powerful with each run by upgrading his special abilities and strengthening his 15 levels of passive skills. In addition, he has a rage bar to fill that transforms him into a formidable and deadlier version of himself. 

The three souls trapped between life and death are at the center of each level. Keep monsters at bay and descend to reach the bottom of the well. Do not worry, though. A stranger is there to help you with your journey. However, it has a couple of downsides, including a lack of risk-and-reward opportunities between runs and the presence of segmented runs, although the game is one continuous playthrough.

Still, Death Kid is a thrilling adventure for fans of action-packed, dungeon-crawling games.
