Banish the monster without getting caught
Nosos is a paid first-person action game from Steth Games. In this cooperative challenge, you can play solo or up to a total of four players in trying to complete the game objective. Here, strangers are brought together to complete a ritual without getting caught by the monster.
The jump scare and supernatural elements found in Nosos is similar to other games like Pacify or DEVOUR. However, this game uses a balance of atmospheric tension, gameplay, and graphics to bring terror to its players. Also, it has a feature that adds Among Us to the mix, making it more challenging.
The premise of Nosos is simple: collect a list of items scattered around the house and perform a ritual using these objects. As you go, you just have to avoid an AI-controlled monster. What makes the game complex is the addition of a “Renegade,” who is basically an impostor among the four players. This extra player acts as an impostor, hampering other players and partially controlling the monster.
In terms of graphics, the game tries to be as realistic and natural as possible. It doesn’t exaggerate the details of the environment in an attempt to be scary. It’s natural-looking location tends to catch players unprepared, which adds thrill to the game. The monster in this game is eerily reminiscent of the girl in Pacify, though a visually better version. Either intentional or coincidental, it’s a nice touch.
Also, while the full game was intended for four players, you can play it with less. However, be warned that some functionalities of the game are temporarily disabled for sessions with 2 players or less to keep the game balanced. Still, the game could use additional maps and monsters. It only offers a single location, a house where players perform the ritual while burning stuff.
With its unique idea of introducing a traitor among a group of people, Nosos is poised to change the current co-op horror genre being flooded with games that are somehow similar to each other. Its environment design doesn’t lean heavily on the common horror tropes, which leaves players unprepared for the jump scares and the efforts of the Renegade to slow them down.
