Moon Mystery is a premium adventure game from Cosmoscouts and Freedom Games. This first-person shooter is set in space, allowing you to explore and investigate. Its story revolves around an undercover space exploration mission that starts from the Moon and stretches to the universe's farthest reaches.

Featuring quality graphics, fitting sound effects, and a storyline that blurs fact and fiction, Moon Mystery feels like a cross between Half-Life 2 and No Man’s Sky with a premise that touches on the vanishing of Ethan Carter. Of course, a couple of areas could use more work.

Lead the return to the Moon

Moon Mystery is built on the fictional scenario that, after the 1969 Moon Landing, mankind has returned to the lunar surface five more times. Each time, a haunting of some sort happens to the crew. You are tasked with leading the last exploration mission to unveil the Moon’s mysteries once and for all. This sets the tone for the exploration and mystery-based gameplay that it offers.

With quality 3D graphics, you get to enjoy different experiences all in one. Solve puzzles to advance the story and platform as you traverse the perils of the lunar surface. Beyond this, the game throws an extra difficulty curve with the need to monitor your condition, such as oxygen supply, in certain environments.

Aside from these challenges, you will also experience an action-packed FPS aspect as you face the unwelcoming inhabitants, including malfunctioning robots and more terrifying, mysterious creatures that lurk in the shadows, waiting to strike when least expected. Keep your gun loaded, stay alert, and prepare for the unexpected, as danger can come from anywhere at any moment.

Optimized but challenging

Moon Mystery supports ten languages in the interface and subtitles, but only English has full audio, leaving players of other languages without the same level of immersion and engagement in the story. The game is well-optimized, with minimal game physics and animation issues. For casual players, the main concern with this game is its high difficulty curve. The early game is accessible enough to learn. Don’t be fooled, however, since it comes with a rapid increase in difficulty level. Additionally, it’s mostly a linear single-player experience with limited replayability value. 

Fun, challenging, and intriguing

Even seasoned sci-fi fans will be left grasping the story that Moon Mystery has to offer. Its varying gameplay situations will test your wits and your reflexes in a mystery story that will make you wonder about the nature of the moon. In terms of technical aspects, the graphics are on point and paired with gameplay that rarely has issues.
