Crab Game is an action game created by indie developer Dani. Despite its different name and the author's denial, it is clearly inspired by the popular Netflix series Squid Game. As with the show, the players here will go through various children's games until only one player remains.

Unlike other Squid Game-inspired games, Crab Game is a first-person multiplayer survival title. It allows up to 40 players to compete across over 10 maps and game modes. You can either host your own lobby or join a public one. However, be careful in doing so as there are toxic players.

What is Crab Game?

Crab Game is a multiplayer online game reminiscent of Squid Game, although the developer flatly denied the claim. However, looking at the gameplay, it is easy to see the inspiration behind it. As with the popular Netflix series, players here will compete against each other in a variety of mini-games. It even includes some of the iconic children's games, such as Red Light, Green Light, and the Glass Bridge.

As mentioned, it supports up to 40 players on a single server. All players must compete until one remains standing. There are various modes and maps to choose from and play on. However, unlike other Squid Game-inspired titles, the players here can have a weapon, such as a metal pipe and gun. They can use them to defeat other players for more chances of winning.

Players can host their own server and play with people they know. However, there is a list of public servers that you can join to play with strangers. You can even communicate with them as you play, thanks to the proximity voice chat. However, be careful in joining public servers as you’re more likely to come across hackers as well as players who type vulgar words or yell racist slurs.

Collect all cosmetic items

Crab Game features a small selection of Crab Store-exclusive cosmetic items, such as the Black Fedora, Colorful Backpack, Gotci Banana, and many more. However, bear in mind these items are not obtainable through crates. Randomly dropped after a match, crates contain more than 50 cosmetics and come in various branding, colors, and shininess.

If you don’t want to rely on sheer luck, you can create one yourself via the game’s crafting system. To craft a crate, you’ll need 20 Rags. Rags are obtained from recycling unwanted items in your inventory. However — once you recycle an item — you can never get them back. 

Should you play it?

If you are a fan of the Squid Game series, then Crab Game will be right up your alley. The game includes the iconic children's games from the show and even adds new, challenging ones. Moreover, it allows you to play with your friends and random online players. However, joining or hosting a server can pose a risk to your digital safety, so one must play with utmost caution.
