A New Take on a Classic Game
The classic game about—you guessed it—sweeping mines, has been given a virtual reality makeover.
Almost anyone who has owned a computer will have played Minesweeper at some point in their lives. Funny Twins brought this simple yet addictive game into the realm of VR with a hefty graphical upgrade (that is, it has graphics now). As with the original, the aim is clear a grid of mines by clicking on the squares. Each square will reveal either a blank, a number indicating how many mines are adjacent, or a mine itself. Your goal is to clear the grid without blowing yourself up. It does what it sets out to, though there are areas for improvement such as with the user interface. Gameplay is surprisingly addictive, but then, anyone who has played the original game will know that already.
If you've played the original Minesweeper, you know exactly what you're getting. Minesweeper VR doesn't add much to the gameplay itself, only snazzy new graphics and a VR environment. There are a few game modes to chose from but, ultimately, the experience is the same. Then again, at such a low price, it's hard to condemn the game for lack of innovation.
