Iridescent is a premium action game for PC developed by DraymaDev. It is a 2D side-scrolling adventure featuring retro 8-bit graphics and a dark fantasy setting. In it, players will delve into perilous dungeons, face and defeat monsters, and find a cure to a deadly plague that is devasting the land.

Similar to other games like Undertale or Hauntii, Iridescent boasts distinct minimalistic graphics and art style that goes well with its dark story and presentation it's trying to portray. Newcomers can try this Demo version out to get a preview of what they can expect gameplay-wise.

Healer's journey

In Iridescent, you play Kruk, a member of the Astel, a family of renowned healers. He is tasked with the perilous mission of finding a cure to a plague that is turning its victims into mindless beasts. However, you will soon realize that what's happening is merely a symptom of a darker threat that will destroy the world if not stopped.

The gameplay in Iridescent combines fast-paced action with precision platforming as you traverse multiple dungeons with distinct environmental challenges and a host of enemies. Wield a variety of weapons that suit your play style and the situation. When facing bosses chip away at their stagger meter with your attacks and utilize your grappling attack to deal massive damage when their defense breaks down.

As mentioned earlier this version is just a demo that lets you experience the first two levels of the main adventure in the full game. If you liked what you played and want to see more, unfortunately, you have to wait for quite a while since as of this writing, it's not out yet and only has a planned release date in 2026.

A long wait

Iridescent is an interesting action platformer game offering solid combat and charming retro aesthetics. It's easy to get into but serves up a nice challenge. Sadly, it's a long time away from its release. Nevertheless, if you like what you played, this is worth keeping on your radar for news and updates in the future. Check it out if you haven't yet.
