i-Ready is an online program for reading and mathematics that helps teachers determine their students’ needs, personalize their learning, and monitor progress throughout the school year. The whole program comes with various components—i-Ready Diagnostic and i-Ready Instruction being the ones the students will use. i-Ready Diagnostics offers adaptive diagnostic tests for K-12 Mathematics and Reading. These tests will adjust in difficulty according to the student’s previous answers. 

On the other hand, the i-Ready Instruction provides lessons that are based on students’ individual skill levels and needs according to the diagnostic tests. These also come with interactive guides and games. However, while i-Ready offers several useful features, it can easily fall short for the students using it. For one, syncing the lessons on it with the actual class lessons may hinder the students’ interest in the subject. 

It’s easy to advance with the in-app lessons and pass over where the class has left off. Another thing is that its approach can be boring to some, even with the addition of games. The app tends to bug out, as well, and may not save your progress in the diagnostic test. Overall, i-Ready has the spirit but it still needs some work on it.

To keep screen time healthy, the system now features dashboard alerts that flag when a student goes past the recommended 30 to 49 minutes of weekly use per subject. Educators can even restrict log-in hours to keep student workloads balanced.

Finally, this new update expands support for bilingual classrooms by introducing My Path for Spanish Reading for grades K–5, offering personalized literacy practice for young Spanish speakers. Families benefit too, as a redesigned online Family Center takes the guesswork out of reviewing report cards and supporting homework.
