Hyper Chess is a premium strategy PC game by developer Grouch. It puts a unique spin on the classic chess gameplay formula by introducing real-time mechanics that forgo turn-by-turn moves. Instead, players will have to think on their feet and react to the opponent's moves as their duel slowly unravels across the board. 

Wild chess 

In essence, Hyper Chess is a chess game that strips away the turn-by-turn moves and transforms the gameplay into a fast-paced tactical experience. Featuring local or online multiplayer modes, you engage enemies in real-time matches wherein you both move simultaneously on the board. Protect your king at all costs while you also make advances to take down the other side’s monarch. 

Each move costs mana, but you also get some back every second, so you basically have a few seconds to consider your strategy, whether it be tackling opponents move-for-move, or planning a multi-pronged attack to take them by surprise. There are over a dozen chess set designs to choose from and unique game modes to try out. The lack of matchmaking is an odd omission, though, and should be added in a future update. 

A fun twist 

Coming out of nowhere, Hyper Chess is a fun twist on classic chess with real-time gameplay that adds to the tension and high-stakes of every duel. Think on your feet as you battle it out with opponents to see who can reach and take down each other’s monarchs first. Just make sure you have someone to play with and you’ll be good to go.
