Holder of Place is a premium strategy PC game by Ardent Fields. It is an auto-battler card roguelike adventure set in a dark fantasy world within a dead kingdom. As the last bastion standing, players will round up their followers to fight back and prevent the spread of the darkness into your quarry at the center of it all.

Darkness creeping in

In Holder of Place, you gather your followers and venture into the abyss to defeat a young dragon and stop the primordial gloom it unleashed. Save what’s left of a dead kingdom while holding to your faith and resisting its dark aura. Build a deck with over 150 follower cards to pick from, and arrange them in different orders to activate unique effects and synergies.

Explore various unique locations throughout your journey and immerse yourself in a rich lore crafted with dark science and fantasy elements. If you want more of a challenge, you can try Reliquary Mode, which essentially lets you augment your runs using relics and drastically ramp up the difficulty in different ways. Do note that there’s no save feature in the game, and the in-game speed is unusually slow.

Overall, Holder of Place is an intriguing auto-battler game with a distinct dark fantasy aesthetic and vibe. There are a lot of cards to choose from to build your deck, and you can play around with different synergies and effects that work for your play style. The caveats mentioned above are odd omissions that would, hopefully, be addressed in future updates.
