Dead Island Epidemic is a MOBA, an online game that takes place in arenas that mix strategy and role-playing. Taking place in the world of the Dead Island series, the Deep Silver game is innovative compared other games of the genre and offers a complex map where you will have to face both hordes of zombies and the opposing teams.

More than just another MOBA

Since the runaway success of League of Legends and its illustrious competitors (Dota 2, Smite), the MOBA genre is growing. Dead Island Epidemic, however, takes some risks, bringing the world of Dead Island and its hordes of zombies in original game modes.

After making your debut in Horde mode (which offers cooperation against the computer holding back waves of zombies), it's Scavenger mode that represents the heart of the game. You can choose from the dozen characters that are currently available, and then head into the frantic PvP arenas.

With an overhead view, the goal is to capture points (at each point battling zombies and  bosses) while defending your own points against opposing teams. The clashes are carried out in PvP, with 3 teams competing for control of the same map. It's enough to call it a happy mess, especially since you'll also have to combat numerous waves of zombies and some particularly strong bosses. The fights quickly become fun when it comes to luring the boss to your opponents while attempting to capture their point!

From a graphics point of view, we must admit that Dead Island Epidemic is impressive. The backdrops (inspired by other games in the Dead Island series) are gorgeous and full of color and life. Seeing hordes of zombies marching through these backdrops of idyllic hotels, with a boss in the middle and well modeled characters, offers up a constant feast for the eyes. A fabulous result!

A MOBA oriented action that seems on track

Dead Island Epidemic is fun. The originality, which mixes player against player mode as well as battles against hordes of zombies, makes Deep Silver's MOBA a pleasure to play. Add to this some splendid graphics and a real personality hidden away, and you've got a winning combination that could make history. There is a reservation, however: the system (paid and optional) for equipping characters may, in the future, have an annoying default position that's simply unacceptable.
