Galactic Civilizations II: Dark Avatar is an expansion pack for the acclaimed turn-based strategy game, Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords. This expansion introduces two new civilizations, the Korath and the Krynn, enriching the gameplay with diverse strategic options. Players are given a new campaign to lead the Drengin Empire, alongside the ability to create custom opponents, enhancing the game’s replayability.

In addition to new civilizations, Dark Avatar introduces an environment statistic for planets that influences colonization capabilities and technology requirements. Espionage plays a more significant role with the introduction of special Agents who can perform various missions, including sabotage and counter-espionage. The expansion also features asteroid fields for resource mining, adding depth to strategic planning, as well as new ship hulls and a narrative that includes the extermination of two civilizations, which remain accessible in sandbox mode.
