Guardians of Ember is a multiplayer fantasy role-playing game with strong action elements. In it, you play a character from one of four different races and six character classes and explore an open fantasy world filled with strange creatures and other players. In addition to its action-focused gameplay, this game offers an extensive crafting and disassembling system as well as farming, house creation and enchanting.

Combining related genres

Guardians of Ember combines action-focused third-person gameplay that will be familiar to players of the Diablo or Dungeon Siege series with the kind of quest-based MMO gameplay reminiscent of a traditional MMO like World of Warcraft. The main PvE plotline can be played solo, but much of the game is designed for group play. You can also play against teams of other players in a PvP arena. There's also a group PvE horde combat minigame. Although there is a crafting system, gear is relatively simple, a notable change from most action RPGs, where gear is a major gameplay element. Character upgrading is complex and offers a range of different possibilities, mostly focused on combat and damage.

Neither quite one thing nor the other

Guardians of Ember isn't quite a traditional Diablo-style action RPG, but it isn't exactly a traditional MMO either. If you like both genres, this curious hybrid could reward some investment of time.
