Each creature boasts 25 unique abilities you can claim for yourself and combine in various ways. Earn points for upgrades and collect items that boost your stats and skills or provide unique effects.

Arguably, the main draw of the experience is that you can use your evil magic to merge any two creatures to create a chimera-like abomination that takes the deadliest parts of both for something new. Now, there are still some game balance issues to iron out, but they do not detract from the fun and varied experience you can have when playing.
