Twin-stick shooter game
Flutter Bombs is a premium twin-stick shooter game that trades spaceships and aliens for butterflies and bugs. In this action game, you control the butterflies that shoot at any enemies both on the ground and airborne. You can complete each level solo or in the four-player cooperative mode.
Flutter Bombs boasts vivid visuals with exceptional attention to detail. In every stage, players will notice minute details in every nook and cranny. The graphics for both bosses and stages are polished and clean-looking. However, the gameplay is typical of shoot-em-up games. It also has no storyline despite having a campaign mode.
How do you play this game?
In Flutter Bombs, you play as a butterfly that must traverse through a collection of confined environments filled with enemies from all directions. You will shoot down these enemies using two modes of fire. The first one is a constant barrage of shots, while the second ranges from simple bombs up to dual blades that protrude from the ground once dropped. However, the second one needs unlocking.
To shoot an attack, you need to collect nectar. The nectar grows on plants that you harvest throughout each stage. The rules in each level are simple: kill bugs until the boss appears. Then, once you kill the boss, you can move on to the next stage. More than the final boss appearing, killing a certain number of bugs also gives you upgrades that increase your firepower.
The game comes with a campaign mode, a survival mode, and a boss rush mode. There are also 10 butterflies you can unlock as you play longer. Moreover, there is a scoreboard that tracks points, enticing players to repeat the levels for a better score. However, while the gameplay is simple, each level has various gimmicks or frustrating mechanics that are not fun to deal with.
Is the game good?
When all is said and done, Flutter Bombs is a decent shooter game you can play. It has simple mechanics that can maintain player engagement for a long time. Not only that, but each stage in the game comes with a rich and diverse environment. That said, the simplicity of its gameplay makes it more suitable for casuals rather than hardcore players.
