Classics-inspired online multiplayer shooter
Fadeout: Underground is a free-to-play action game developed by Weston Mitchell for PC. It is a third-person online multiplayer shooter. It offers players multiple character classes and various weapons types to pick from to help them find the best one that suits their playstyle.
Taking inspiration from classic games like Unreal Tournament or Team Fortress 2, Fadeout: Undergrounds also boasts different game modes that can be easily customized and adapted to battle scenarios and conditions as players want and depending on the number of participants. All of that, while introducing some unique twists of its own.
Old-school shooter vibe
The Unreal Tournament and Quake series helped define the online multiplayer shooter genre. They offered fun and challenging twitch action that was paired with solid gun mechanics, making them easy to get into. They came out decades ago, but they're still quite popular to this day and remain as sources of inspiration for various modern releases, with Fadeout: Underground being an example of such.
The said game features eight playable characters with unique traits and combat abilities. There are four maps available that boast unique layouts and environments. Choose from a total of six game modes, including Death Match, Capture The Flag, and many others to play and compete in. You can pick up 22 different types of weapons throughout the match and experiment with which one suits you best.
Another standout aspect of the game is that you basically control anthropomorphic animals in it. The type you choose will also determine the aforementioned abilities you can use. If you're interested in checking it out, though, be sure to have enough friends to join you as the lack of active players makes it quite difficult to find a match online. Hopefully, this status will change in the future.
Quirky class-based shooter
If you are a fan of the classic multiplayer shooters like Quake or Team Fortress back in the day and are looking for something similar, Fadeout: Underground is worth checking out. The game's overall presentation and gameplay are quite similar, while still being unique in its own way by having control animal characters. It's a quirky take on the genre but it's quite fun.
