Facebook Jobs is a brand new, free to join and use career marketplace. The social media giant is rolling it out so businesses in the United States and Canada can advertise job openings directly on Facebook where millions of potential hires spend time regularly. The initiative brings small businesses and job seekers closer together, promising to 'take the work out of hiring'.

Job postings and applications, all in one familiar place

In an attempt to aid owners of business Pages and lower-skilled job seekers in particular, Facebook Jobs is a fully integrated hiring system where small-business Facebook page admins can post a job opening, monitor its reach and boost it to engage a wider audience if needed, receive and review applications, and get in contact with potential hires via Messenger. Facebook Jobs is easy for applicants as well. Relevant job openings will appear in the News Feed automatically, or they can be browsed via the Jobs bookmark in desktop and mobile. Applying is as easy as clicking 'Apply Now' and selecting which parts of your Facebook profile should appear in your application.

Potential gamechanger

Facebook Jobs deals a major blow to traditional career services like LinkedIn or Xing, particularly for small businesses and less specialised workers. While Facebook profiles are not strictly professional by nature, this feature definitely taps into a promising job market niche.
