Ereban Shadow Legacy is a fast-paced stealth platformer where the player takes on the role of a character with mystical shadow powers. Through the use of these powers, along with high-tech gadgets, the player must avoid or kill enemies while the game’s overarching plot unrolls.

In a similar fashion to games like Hitman, Ereban Shadow Legacy encourages the player to seek stealthy solutions to the problems presented. However, like Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, it does not require the player to exclusively play in stealth mode.

Mythical powers and high-tech gadgets

In Ereban Shadow Legacy, the player takes control of a character named Ayana, who is the last descendant of a forgotten race. The player can combine mythical powers—such as Ayana’s Shadow Merge ability—with high-tech gadgets to move around the world unseen or sneak up on enemies and kill them. Ultimately, the player must uncover the truth about Ayana’s past.

Stealth and shadows

The core gameplay style of this game is stealth, meaning the player is encouraged to sneak around, avoid detection, and only enter conflict when no other options are available. The game world presents plenty of opportunities to hide in the shadows, while the powers and gadgets that the player can accumulate also make sneaking easier.

Difficulty update

It has only been a couple of months since its release, but Ereban: Shadow Legacy has already received its first-ever update, which primarily focuses on the difficulty of the game. Drawing from player feedback that noted that the gameplay is both easy and difficult, there are now new difficulty modes that will cater to both camps and improve the overall gameplay experience for them.

If you're new to stealth games, then Easy Mode is ideal for you to let you ease into the gameplay. If you're a fan of the genre and want a bit more challenge, the Hard Mode will ramp up the difficulty by a good amount to test your skills. Lastly, the Hardcore Mode will be available if you've finished the game once and want the hardest difficulty possible.

The latter is the same as Hard Mode, but you have to deal with the threat of permadeath and the lack of saving options, increasing the stakes with each misstep you make. This update also makes various bug fixes to address the reports from players, particularly regarding the subpar performance and issues that prevent them from progressing through chapters.

A detailed, distinctive game world

The game world features a great deal of detail. It is also rendered in a very distinctive art style that is somewhat cartoonish but maintains high-quality graphics. However, younger players and players who are sensitive to violence may find the combat and killing in this game a little off-putting.
