Edge of Memories puts Corrosion in Eline’s hands
Edge of Memories, developed by Midgar Studio, is an upcoming action JRPG set in Avaris, where the Corrosion transforms living things into grotesque threats. Players follow Eline, a young Soul Whisperer who gains the dangerous ability to control the Corrosion within her own body. The game shifts away from the turn-based combat of Edge of Eternity in favor of real-time battles, companion attacks, and a Berserker transformation. It targets players drawn to story-led fantasy RPGs with fast combat and anime-inspired presentation.
Avaris has bigger problems than a bad forecast
Edge of Memories takes place in the same universe as Edge of Eternity, although Eline’s adventure is positioned as a standalone story. The Corrosion forms the central threat, spreading across Avaris and turning its people, wildlife, and landscapes into abominations. Eline’s role as a Soul Whisperer gives the story a personal connection to the crisis, while her unusual control over the Corrosion places her at the center of the fight to save the continent.
Combo chaos with a Corrosion kick
Combat is set to replace slow tactical turns with quicker real-time action. Eline fights alongside allies Ysoris and Kanta, combining her own attacks with companion skills to create openings and extend damage. Her Corrosion power also leads into a Berserker state built around stronger attacks and aggressive finishers. This shift is a clear strength for players who prefer active action RPG combat, although fans of Edge of Eternity’s more deliberate turn-based battles can find the new direction less appealing.
Anime flair does some heavy lifting
Avaris is presented through bright, stylized 3D environments that contrast colorful fantasy scenery with the grotesque effects of the Corrosion. Midgar Studio has also brought in Japanese collaborators for the game’s character art and music, including artists with established JRPG credits. That creative mix gives the project a distinct visual and musical identity on paper. The final quality of its presentation, however, remains untested until the full game releases.
A new chapter still has to earn its ending
Edge of Memories is shaping up as a more action-led entry in the Edge of Eternity universe, with Eline’s Corrosion powers and companion coordination forming its main hook. Its story, combat balance, customization depth, and long-term variety are still unknown before release, so it is best approached as a promising preview rather than a proven RPG. Players interested in real-time combat and anime-styled fantasy have a solid reason to keep an eye on it.

- Japanese music and character-art collaborators support a distinctive anime-inspired presentation
Cons
- The action-first direction can disappoint fans of Edge of Eternity’s turn-based combat
- Combat depth, customization, and long-term variety remain unproven before release
