Crucible Falls: Together Forever is a challenging two-player cooperative experience from BAKENEKO GAMES. Combining puzzle and survival elements, this adventure puts you and your buddy in the shoes of two unwitting victims placed in separate parts of an abandoned sanitation station. Using your comms, you’ll need to relay information back and forth as you guide each other on your way out.

Visually speaking, Crucible Falls: Together Forever feels like a Call of Duty mod, with its first-person view and realistic appeal. However, its gameplay is a lot closer to a separate two-player Little Nightmares but more difficult and more frustrating.

Comms-heavy horror movie experience

If you’ve watched the psychological horror film franchise Saw, then you’d know what to expect from Crucible Falls: Together Forever. The first thing to note about this game is that it has some suspense-survival vibes and that you can’t do it alone. It heavily relies on effective communication between you and your partner. Note that you can’t see the other’s screen, yet you need to exchange information.

This makes for an impressively difficult game, which partly depends on your communication skills. Expect several deaths along the way, especially as you both go in blind. You solve puzzles and try to avoid complex traps. What makes it worse is that sometimes the clues are not as they seem, either misleading or outright telling the opposite. This will force you to find solutions you wouldn’t think possible.

The supposed in-game radio transmits poorly despite the game being heavy on comms, which makes it even harder. This can easily be resolved by using third-party apps like Discord. Additionally, the game also features random interruptions through this feature, as if a ghost or a bug interferes with your conversation. Also, the game suffers from a couple of optimization issues such as collision and texture aspects not loading correctly.

Make it out alive or die trying

As far as two-player coop games go, Crucible Falls: Together Forever has to be one of the most difficult titles available. Some of its puzzles are so hard and so misleading that players complain about them being broken. Also, as mentioned, communication is the key in this game. However, you’ll have to consider the massive challenges that come with the in-app radio. Recommended, but take lots of patience with you.
