Not in Heaven is a free indie horror game from developer Ricardo Pratas. In this adventure game, you play a young girl who had her father mysteriously disappear. In her attempt to find him, she ended up in numerous creepy environments along the way.

Not in Heaven plays like a walking simulator with survival horror and puzzle elements. Although, unlike other games from the same genre, this one is very slow in pace, even when there are actually pursuits involved. Moreover, the puzzles are extremely easy to solve. And despite these, the game is still short. 

Not exactly horror

Not in Heaven is a surreal horror game played from a third-person's perspective. As mentioned, you play as a young girl named Emily. At the tender age of eight, Emily lost her mother due to a traffic accident. While recuperating in the hospital, she found herself waking up to the news that her father had suddenly disappeared. In search of him, she ended up in numerous creepy environments.

Emily will explore these new environments in the hopes of finding her father. As noted, you will also solve puzzles as you explore. Be wary, though. There will be surreal events that are quite disturbing to keep you on your toes. However, the problem is there aren't many of them. Most of the time, you will end up simply walking from point A to point B like on walking simulators.

More than the lack of events, players will also find Not in Heaven extremely slow-paced. Despite the horrors happening inside the game, Emily still walks leisurely. With this, everything feels sluggish. It also doesn't help that the puzzles are too easy to solve. It is a good thing that the map is visually pleasing. Although, there are too many graphical inconsistencies throughout. 

Not exactly exciting

All in all, Not in Heaven is a horror game typical of its genre. It comes with a mystery you can solve through exploration and puzzles. However, unlike similar games, it is very slow-paced. The character movement is extremely slow, it makes the game feel dragged despite its short run time. Despite its creepy moments, the jump scares aren't enough to keep you excited and motivated to play.
