Closers is an online free-to-play episodic 3D action MMORPG developed by Naddic Games and published by Nexon in Korea, Megaxus in Indonesia, and Sega in Japan. Bursting with spectacular battles and steeped in an epic storyline about the survival of humanity against otherworldly enemies, you play as the Closers—superpowered humans gifted with the Phase Energy that came from the gates that suddenly appeared to unleash the deadly monsters. Using your special abilities and weapons, you must fight to protect the world and prevent another dimensional war from happening.

The War Has Just Begun

The story of the game centers around the struggles of the world. In the year 2020, mysterious dimensional gates opened all over the planet and unleashed a worldwide invasion of dimensional monsters. Much of the world was ravaged but with the help of the people who suddenly awakened to psychic powers, the monsters were vanquished and the gates were closed—earning them the name “Closers.” After the First Dimensional War, a Closer organization named UNION was formed to research the dimensional phenomenon even further. Unfortunately, they discover that the First War was just the start—and this is where your journey as a Closer begins.

Be a Hero

In Closers, you can’t create your own unique character—but you do get to play as the various Closer agents of UNION. Each playable character has their own personality and character arc that you can explore in the various episodes of the game. They have their own combat styles and weapons, and sometimes even their own specially-made gear. Thus, while you may have to fight the same enemies every now and then, the way in which you’ll go about it will depend entirely on what your chosen Closer is capable of. From close-ranged attacks with swords to sneaky tactics with guns, you can play a variety of ways and master several playstyles. 

Scroll Through the Frenzy

Closers is all about fast-paced action. Just like other MMORPGs, you move around the map and choose skills to use against enemies that will cool down for a while, leaving you to strategize your way around with how you’ll chain combos and handle large crowds of monsters. However, in this game, you’ll be playing in side-scroller mode similar to Grand Chase and Elsword. You have to jump, dodge, and take advantage of your air time in order to maximize your movement and available skills. Not only that, but you can team up with others, go solo against the monsters, or prove your skills in the ring with the game’s PvP arenas.

Not For F2P-ers

As a 3D side-scroller MMORPG, Closers does well to keep you entertained with the various ways you can dominate the battlefield. However, it has a lot of issues that keep it from being a crowd favorite. Closers suffer from the debacle of microtransactions and difficult level-grinding. The payout for doing such is essential to even stay powerful for the later levels but it takes so much time, even for players who are willing to buy with real money. This game is great for eye-candy and fun gameplay—but don’t expect the fun to last if you don’t have friends you can rely on.
