Bubblegum wrapper and Zombies?!
Bubblegum Zombie Hunter is a retro-style arcade styled action game that is a story-driven pixel art twin stick horror shooter that references 80’s pop culture and old school arcade games. The game replicates the old twin stick shooter style with modern gameplay mechanics alongside its impressive pixel art style.
Armed with absurd weapons and obscure powerups and a quirky story that would make Plants vs Zombies jealous, the game has surprising gameplay and horror that waits around every nook and cranny as the player explores the town of Gloomhaven. Looks can be deceiving as its cute looks hides the horror beneath.
Run, dash and shoot away your enemies
Players can choose from two different characters in this game: Kaylee Bu33le, a popular streamer and her younger sister, Maddie West. Both are stuck in Gloomhaven in a zombie apocalypse that neither are shocked about. Prepare for trouble and make it double as you can play with a friend through co-op mode, adding more fun to the challenge. This is a fast-paced game.
One of the good things about this game is that it is friendly for all types of players. Whether you’re an avid speedrunner, a completionist, or just a casual player, the game has score sheets that will give you different scores for different playstyles. Not only that, but the game's levels also are randomly generated along with its adaptive difficulty which will test the resolve of the player.
If mowing down hordes of zombies isn’t enough, there are a good number of mini games and a chill mode that gives you a different perspective of the game’s beautiful pixel art style. The game can be challenging for new players, but that alone isn't enough to bring down the game. Players can try out the demo for free to test the game out.
The zombies, they’re coming
Bubblegum Zombie Hunter is a solid game that has great callbacks to the 80s pop culture and classic arcade games that is sure to wow gamers, both new and old. Despite its challenging difficulty, the game is worth trying especially since its adaptive game style is friendly for all player styles. With a unique premise and exciting gameplay, this one promises high replayability.
