Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a gothic horror action side-scrolling RPG set in 19th-century England. Players are immersed in a world where a paranormal force has brought forth a demon-infested castle, revealing crystal shards imbued with immense magical power.

In this game, players assume the role of Miriam, an orphan afflicted by an alchemist's curse that slowly crystallizes her body. To safeguard humanity and herself, Miriam embarks on a journey through the castle to confront the summoner, Gebel. Armed with a variety of weapons, equipment, and loot, players must collect, craft, and unlock resources to overcome the hordes of minions and formidable bosses that stand in their way.
