Blazing Chrome is an action side-scroller developed by JoyMasherand co-published by The Arcade Crew and CE-Asia. This action game features 16-bit graphics and action-packed fights reminiscent of arcade games.

Pure Nostalgic Action

Blazing Chrome has a quite great resemblance from the classic Contra series, particularly Contra 3: The Alien Wars and Contra: Hard Corps. The pixel graphics are gritty yet well designed. Everything looks intricate and refined. It captures the essence of the classic run and gun arcade games in the 90s. 

The game takes place in the future when humanity has been nearly exterminated, and the machines took over the world. Only a few remaining humans and insurgent robots are left to fight their way to freedom. Players can choose between the human resistance soldier Marva or the insurgent robot Doyle. Their mission is to infiltrate and destroy the machine’s main power plant. They have to traverse five apocalyptic stages before reaching the final area.

Fans of run and gun games can expect high-octane action, explosions everywhere, and terrifying machines. Players begin with a basic firearm and melee attack, but they can collect more powerups along the way. Some of the powerups are better firearms, shield, and drones. They can switch between powerups to adapt to their current situation. If they got hit by an enemy, they die and lose their current powerup.

Players will have limited lives, so they must be very careful. To avoid getting hit, they can jump and roll. The game has various sections other than the run and gun part, such as the motorcycle section, climbing section and jetpack section. This adds variety to the gameplay in general. Players can also ride an aircraft and a mobile armor for extra firepower and survivability. Top-performing players can unlock two more hidden characters.

The game has a local cooperative mode for the authentic classic arcade gaming experience.
