A European vacation worth the alien upgrade

Ben 10: Power Trip takes us away from the usual American highways and drops us straight into the scenic landscapes of Europe. In this premium action game, what starts as a relaxing family road trip quickly spirals into a magical crisis when the sorcerer Hex decides to ruin the fun.

Ben 10: Power Trip is a classic Ben 10 setup that feels like an extended episode of the modern series. With Gwen and Grandpa Max providing support, you are tasked with donning the Omnitrix once more to save the continent from a Hex-tremely dangerous magical threat.

Transforming combat

Ben 10: Power Trip’s core gameplay loop revolves around freely exploring three distinct European regions while swapping between Ben’s most iconic alien forms. Whether you are using Heatblast to glide across gaps or Four Arms to bash through heavy gates, the transformations feel snappy and purposeful. Each alien brings a unique traversal skill to the table, making the Metroidvania-lite exploration rewarding as you hunt down collectibles.

While the world is charming, players will frequently encounter clunky camera angles during tighter platforming sections that can lead to frustrating falls. Furthermore, the repetitive mission structures can start to feel like busywork after a few hours, as many side quests boil down to simple fetch tasks. These moments occasionally stall the high-energy momentum the game tries to maintain during its more cinematic boss encounters.

Despite the variety in alien powers, the limited enemy variety means you will find yourself fighting the same basic Void monsters throughout the majority of the map. This lack of diversity in mob design makes the combat feel slightly shallow toward the end of the campaign. Thankfully, the inclusion of Kevin Levin for local split-screen co-op adds a layer of chaotic fun.

Charming adventure

While seasoned gamers might find the mechanics a bit simplistic, Ben 10: Power Trip successfully captures the heart and humor of the source material. It offers a solid sense of progression and a vibrant world that rewards curiosity. If you can overlook the occasional technical stutter and the repetitive nature of the side content, it remains a delightful and accessible action-adventure for fans of the franchise.
